Choosing Kobas as your EPoS and complete hospitality management software is a great decision. Now, the next step is determining the hardware you’ll use to run your EPoS system in-venue.
At Kobas, we partner with Oxhoo, providing their reliable hardware integrated with our software. When you purchase hardware through us, it’s yours to keep, and we’ll assist with warranty management, repairs, installation, and usage.
We also understand the importance of reducing environmental impact and managing costs. Whenever possible, we aim to make Kobas compatible with the hardware you already own or purchase elsewhere. However, please note that we cannot guarantee compatibility in every case.
The hardware we sell will:
- Be covered by the manufacturer's warranty
- Be shipped directly from a nationally renowned supplier
- Be Kobas-ready, with the required cabling*

Tower Server | We recommend a dedicated server for busier venues to ensure that you have a robust EPoS service. | Dell Power Edge** | £1,190 |
UPS | All servers should be backed up using a battery backup to best protect your data should you have a power cut/surge. | APC Back-Ups 650** | £145 |

Using tablets for MPoS or MKDS
Using tablets as a till and/or KDS screen is a great way to expand your in-venue solution at a lower cost, and gives you great flexibility. We would always urge caution however in using tablets as your primary hardware in-venue because:
- These rely on a Wifi connection, which adds more chance of failure.
- We cannot remote into these devices to provide in-service fast support.
- Generally will slow or stop working should your internet drop for any reason.
Larger venue servers
For venues that process a significant number of orders and tabs, please discuss the most appropriate server solution with your Implementation Manager. We would always suggest that venues taking more revenue, and with a greater number of tills should have a dedicated server. This will dramatically improve your venue's reliability and redundancy should things go wrong.
Due to our commitment to the environment 🍃and with an awareness that sometimes finances can be limited 💰, we will attempt to reuse old or third-party hardware for you to run your Kobas software. Our system runs on the Linux operating system, and we require 64GB of HDD / SSD space as a minimum. We cannot use Windows-only hardware.
Be aware: This list is indicative only, and all attempts to re-use hardware that is not purchased new from us, are on a Best Endeavours basis only. Note that as the last Test Date becomes older, the less likely this will guarantee current compatibility. Furthermore, whilst a device may be able to run Kobas at this time, its future ability to run Kobas is not guaranteed.
